Parenting tip for teething: let baby play/chew on your electric toothbrush - give him his own brush for it and he can get relief from the teething discomfort from the vibrations and begin to work on good hygiene. Our 10 mos. old son is fascinated with us brushing our teeth and the sound the toothbrush makes so he was thrilled when we offered him the chance to participate. He loves the feeling of the bristles against his gums.

You can also buy your baby his/her own electronic toothbrush. Several of the toothbrush companies make cute electronic toothbrushes for toddler. We have an Elmo one and a Spiderman one. I've also seen a Dora one. They are small...for a toddler mouth. They would be great for the tip above...letting Baby put it on their gums.

If you are not against using pain relief medicine for babies, you can also use Children's Motrin or Children/Infant Tylenol for teething relief. Save this for naptime and bedtime. Also, check with your Pediatrician first and make sure you get the correct dosage. My son's Pediatrician recommened using Motrin more than Tylenol...I think because Motrin works for a longer time.

Teething rings work well on some children...you just pop them in the freezer. But monitor recall websites (see the Recall article on Mommyplace for links to websites that publish the latest recalls). In 2007 some teething rings were recalled because they could be punctured and the gel could release in a baby's mouth.
