Babies can get eczema at an early age. If your babies' skin has red bumps and seems to be bothering them, call your Pediatrician. Here is the plan that our Pediatrican prescribed to treat our Baby's eczema

1) Reduce the number of baths you give your baby, particularly if you live in a dry climate

2) Apply lotion/cream at least 2x a day but not Baby lotions or other lotions that might irritate baby's skin. Rather, use something like Eucerin Cream.

3) Keep baby's fingernails short so that he cannot hurt himself if he's itching.

4) Some Doctors might prescribe a steroid cream (NOT to be used on the face). Apply very small amounts of these prescription creams only to the infected area and then smother your baby in a cream like Eucerin after.

There is research that correlates eczema in babies to food allergies later. Our son had eczema as a baby and is allergic to peanuts. So if you have a baby with eczema, be very careful when you start introducing solid foods.

Also, many babies grow out of their eczema. Our son's eczema has improved greatly. We still smother him in cream but rarely have to use the steroid cream.
